Original wheels for GTO-3R?

Hi All,

I'm looking at buying a GTO-3R, but the one I'm looking at has nasty looking (to me!) aftermarket wheels fitted.

I was wondering if the standard 3R wheels come up for sale?

I've seen one with M400(?) wheels which look pretty similar.

Any advice appreciated

M400 wheels are exactly the same, just painted a different colour usually.

The owner's had it at the TVR centre since the beginning of the year on sale or return.

I'm looking at buying directly off the owner.

I think you will find those 'nasty' wheels are quite expensive, buy it as is and offer them up after you have bought it.

Yep, that was another option, buy the car and see if another owner wants to 'upgrade' their wheels to these.

It's just a personal thing, I belive the wheels cost over £2k new, but they are just not to my taste.

What would they look like on an Azure Blue M400 - anyone good with photoshop?

Would they come with the rear lights too

I have a full set of 3R/M400 wheels with bridgestones ( 500 miles use) sitting in my garage (among the other 3 sets ) If you do get the car, sure we can do a deal.

in my totally unbiased opinion they look fantastic! they work well with the carbon spoiler as well.

There's not many cars i'd swap mine for but yours is stunning! Such a nice colour and the painted splitter makes the front look properly 'finished'.

thanks mate, its a 2.5GTO with a 3R front clam and M400 wheels. i dont think there is another the same, not that ive seen anyway. maybe a real M400 next! I am quite tempted although getting married next month so may have to wait a while. I'll leave it to WillB for now.

go for it will, im not sure of the weight difference but the car definitely feels better with these wheels on, the 5 spokes seem heavier. does anyone know if they are a real 3 piece construction or imitation? real 3 piece would explain the weight and cost and would certainly be a better drivers option to the originals. They look real to me but its hard to tell.

3R/M400 Wheels are not split rims (fake) also l think they are slightly heavier than GTO Wheels, certainly not as strong as the original GTO.

The wheels are just one piece, the metal studs are actually plastic and glued in. Looks convincing though.

Wish my M400 had that paint on it! Think im going to go and buy that reverie front splitter to cheer myself up

the original 3r/m400 rims are known to crack and there are reports of them failing

are you sure you want a set ?
