Radiator Trauma

Took car to Castle this morning to get a temp sensor fixed/replaced. Turned out to be a dodgy connection so pretty cheap to fix.

Unfortunately the radiator turned out to be kippered when pressure tested so its got to have a new one, not a std TVR jobbie that appears to be constructed with the build quality of a Blue Peter model but a sexy (is it wrong to find radiators sexy?) Aluminium one.

I now need to sell a kidney to pay for it - £600+ to supply and fit.

Oh well at least this is the only thing that has gone wrong in the first 9 moths of ownership. I am getting the old rad back - is it worth getting it fixed as a spare or should I junk it? the leak is from the bleed plug (washer gone) and the matrix.

What is wrong with the Rad?,where is the leak? Is it on the fin bits?If so have it recored, like i did and replace the washer at the same time, £135 inc vat at a local specialist, rad returned in 24 hours, as descibed in another thread, rad out in 20 minutes with practice, an hour max for the mechanicly challenged

Thanks for the info. Its too late now to stop the new rad going in I think it was done this afternoon. I will be getting the old rad back and am planning on getting it repaired as a spare. I will ask Joe where it was leaking (it was fixed with Rad weld some two years ago but a pressure test has shown it still leaks. I think it was the leak was on the side bit where its crimped to the plastic.

That may be a problem if its the plastic bit and not the core.
I would have liked to have a nice alloy rad, but the purse strings are tight at the moment
