Is it me or the new M6 being mooted for 2010 isnt that a bit soon? E24 was the first gen in 1983-89 and now the the E63/4 2005 till present. So isnt 2010 a tad early for a new model? There is rumour of it being a csl model but then surely it would mean that thered be a new 6series.
I think the current m6 has a few more years on it yet even though the prices have plummeted.
Bring on the M10 surely its about time BMW cracked out a supercar and rivalled AMG(easily done) and others instead of supplementing other companys with their cracking M engines and having nothing specific of their own.

"In September 2008, BMW has registered three new trademarks; the M10 was one of them." Hopefully they are are doing this, anyone looked at the mock ups? Any thoughts?

Think they want to shift away from the glorious V10 and have a twin turbo lump.

Makes sense plus they can move the line up to a less controversial style - think there have been some new 6 series spy shots around so it is coming.

Personally I've always liked the shape of the current 6er so it'll be a shame to see it go... there are some very nice angles for those that are bothered to look rather than follow the herd opinion smile

Hi Dubbs,

Hope you're well.

Has everything gone/is it going ok with the ins co?

Hey Der.... waiting for the insurance company to sort themselves out now and send a valuation. Assessor thought that with the backup stuff I have (he noted I have quotes on prices, adverts and pics to back up how tidy the car was in the statement I provided) that there shouldn't be too much of an issue because depreciation is non existent from what I paid (if anything they've gone up)

In the meantime I have picked up the most gorgeous e39 540i sport as a "cheap" replacement for a while.... thing is it's so much better than I thought it would be (literally immaculate, paint finish better than the 6 and it's a 72k, 8 year old car with 3 owners) that I may be tempted to keep it for longer than the planned year biggrin

It scratches the e39 itch I've always had since seeing the "sport" shape come out, would have grabbed a cheap M5 but not keen on manuals anymore.

The devil inside says delimit it and add a supercharger... :-P

Nice. smile

Had my M6 on a low level sortie o'er t'weekend and tbh, Dubbs, it really is truly, deeply sensational.

A world away from the lazy but irresistable set of the older E39s but a 'fizzbomb' even with DSC left active.

I'm moving back to the idea of a big brake conversion for mine, given that recent plans to grow the X50's basic block have now been shelved following a recent epiphany on a certain stretch of Holy Ground.

If I can achieve my 911's almost loony toons grade stopping characteristics then the general balance of the big coup might persaude me to unleash it where the communist most emphatically does not roam free.

I'll email you the details, later. wink

DeR, that is a mighty impressive fleet you have there. Must be difficult choosing between them.
