Alonso was basically complaining about the same thing when he was saying that F1 was no longer a sport, in '06.

The racing is fun to contemplate as well as the cars, the driving, and the tracks. F1 attracts b*st*rds, though, and if they're a distraction for the fans, it's gotta suck to have to work around them.
