Unfortunately my car's not as nice now as it is in the photos. I came around a corner on the Illuminations Rally and hit a closed gate, which should have been open and marshalled. It took out both of my big PIAA spotlights, bent the bumper and put a slight dent in the right front wing. Nothing too major and you shouldn't go serious rallying if you can't take a bit of damage.
The only other problem is that I have a strange knocking from the engine which I think is camshaft and/or followwer related. I'm going to drag the unit out over Christmas and have a good look. I think it's due for a new camshaft about now, so it doesn't matter too much. I just can't drive it at present.

Bought the mag last night and have to say its an excellent article and i hope its gonna encourage more people to keep minis in the dirty world of rallying!

What lights r u going to put on there now?

Hi Dave, I had a bit of a result with lights. The week before the rally I bought two as-new 8" Cibie Super-Oscars with the convex lenses (like they used to use on the 'works' Escorts) I paid £25 for the pair. The next day there was an ad in our local paper for a whole load of stuff including some Cibie lights. The result was two more Super-Oscars, this time with the concave lens, and again as-new, for £15 the pair. So I am spoiled for choice now!
I'm seeing Chris this afternoon and will ask him about the doors.
