Okay, so it's a Seat Toledo. That of 'older family man driving, middle lane hogging, supermarket carp park fodder'. To be honest it was never the shining star in the Seat stable...

But low and behold, Seat did put the wonderous V5 engine into the Toledo and transformed it into something that although modest and understated, could quite easy give outside lane drivers a shock when it hung onto their rear bumper in a moment of foot to the floor madness.

I love my Tolly, and I like to think it is a little bit different to your average one...

Tweaked by Listers Seat of Coventry, it was created as a demo model that was meant to 'incorporate all the sights, sounds and sensations of the Toledo BTCC car'...their words not mine. Therefore it's got the following extras...

Engine management tweak to take the bhp from 170 up to 190, suspension, brake calipers and discs from the Leon Cupra R, limited edition Seat Sport alloy wheels, custom made chrome plated exhaust to give the V5 some more volume, boot spoiler, colour coded front and rear bumpers and running strips and a rather nice Seat Sport gear knob!

It's a rocketship of a car, and to me is more than a match for any boy racer in his tarted up Leon!
Plus, I do also think that on the track it's got better front/rear balance than the Leon, with a more equal weight on both ends - why do you think Seat used them for so long in the BTCC/WTCC?

My advice, if you want something that's got the oomph of a Leon Cupra, but want to be a little bit different, pick up a V5 Tolly. You won't be disappointed smile

Cheers all,

Sam

p.s. photos taken half way along one of my favourite bits of road, the fantastic B4407 in Wales. A real rollercoaster of a road that runs from Ysbyty Ifan to Ffestiniog. Try it out, but make sure you've got good suspension and brakes!

Looks nice, wheels suit the car and the colour. Always crop up in the classifieds, and their price leads to temptations... Enjoy yours

Have I seen this driving around Coventry? If I have the last time I saw it you were coming off junction 1 of the ring road at a fair lick and it did sound great. I think the exhaust looks a little big for the rear end but on the whole a nice car. smile

Different from all the Golfs running around on RS4 replica alloys.

Does look nice, although have to agree that looks a tad 'over-exhausted'.

170 bhp ain't bad though!

My dad has a Toledo but a 1.8t with the cupra bumper, 18" compomotive MO wheels, AP 4 pot brakes, full milltek, forge intercooler, rovo stage 2 etc - sees 'around' 240bhp (or did on awesome's rollers - though it take dyno figures with a pinch of salt) and it feels quite quick to be honest.

He had it off someone with all of the modifications in place and he loves the car - relatively quick, very spacious and much less common than the leon which suits him because of his age as he doesnt get chased around then.

For the money you cant fault them - I must say though that a remapped leon cupra r would make mincemeat of a V5 with over 245bhp on tap.....

If i show him the picture of yours he will want a boot spoiler...
