Just latley been having loads of trouble with high idling.I replaced the the breather pipe that comes off the crank case to a valve of some sort the pipe was split but it made no difference.I noticed there was a hissing coming from the engine.I was told I should of replaced the valve that the pipe attached to and this was making the hissing sound and probably the cause of the high idle.I put on the new valve and the car has gone from idling high to far to low in fact when I pull up to junctions etc it stalls completly but starts fine.At first I thought I must have done something wrong putting it on but it only goes on one way and all the pipes are secure. And to top it all off to make life easier when fitting the valve I took off the water pipe that sits underneath.Anyway once had done I topped up water level and went bleed the system and I somehow sheered the bleed valve top off so now Ill have to replace the pipe as well ahhhhhhhhhhhh.Any ideas?

when you refer to 'valve' do you mean idle control valve?

im pretty sure it would be self adjusting, no manual adjustments there.

what about your air flow meter?

maybe a vacuum leak? i had a rip in one of my hoses, where it split off to the idle control valve, easy fix, i think the part cost about £15-20 from a main dealer, fitted it myself, abit tricky, jubilee clip screw was on the underside of the hose!
