I have been thinking for a while about converting my auto ute to a manual as i am running 500bhp and i know this is at the top limit of the box and with the amount of monaro's being broke i am looking into doing it.

Does anyone know if it is a simple swap or do i need to change the loom ETC ?

i have efi so i can sort that side of things just dont want to change loom etc

Also will this have a adverse effect on the resale value of the ute?

Jason, speak to Steve (Trickas) He's on to it at the moment. He found there is a Quaife sequential box which will fit as well. I think in this country it would increase the re sale value generally speaking, but not by as much as it would cost you to change.

I think you would just have to tell the ECU that it's now a manual. Best Source of info for this question would be the aussie forums.

Id say it would be relatively straightforward...but very labour intensive. There are a lot of bits to change, and usually stuff like pedal boxes can be a total nightmare.

If you feel the box is a weak link, but were happy to retain an auto. There are plkenty of transmision builders in the US, that can sort the tranny for you tol hold more power.

As for the Quaife. It may be nice for a race car, I dounbt its much use for a road car, and probably not overly strong either.
Quaife customer service also sucks, as well as their discount ( or lack of )

i know you can get a built 4l60 box from the US and also the 4l65 fits but just cant help but feel its always better to chose what gear you want to be in nothin worse than it changing down mid corner and upsetting the rear end ferbs felt really good as a manual
