Idle and cutting our problem, help!!

Im thinking of buying a 156 not a bad price, but the owner says it wont idle and cuts out, and has been told this is the MAF or (ISCV whatever that is?), is this right, or could there be a more sinister problem? any feedback would be great

Ive bought the car, no difference when the MAF is unplugged, so i assume (and hope)its the ISCV????

Its a 98 2.0, Sport pack, 101k full history mint condition £400, so I think ive had a good deal? Just hope the repair is simple
