FABCAR 962 GTP
Discussion
This past weekend I went to the Kruse Int'l auction here in Dallas to primarily check out a COPO Camaro and a Boss 429. While looking around I see this really mean looking race car. I'd never heard of FABCAR so didn't realize what I was looking at. I talked to the owner and found out it was one of 4 cars built for RJ Reynolds as a Camel Light's promotion car in 1989. Primarily used as a parade lap car and for exhibitions.
The car is yellow and in great shape. Has SBC in it.
To make a long story short, I bought it!!
Anybody know the history?

Congratulations on your purchase.
I have used their (Fabcar) lower control arms on one of my Porsches. Very well engineered. You can probably email them for information on your new acquisition here, see:

They were pleasant to deal with.
Don't know the history of that particular car, but Fabcar is a very well known Porsche specialist in the U.S.. They do exceptional work. They've worked on many real Porsche 962's and have fabricated a lot of spare parts for those original cars. My guess is that they built a very nice copy of the original and threw in a smallblock chevy to give it some real power without having to spend an enormous amount for a real 962 engine. Are you in Texas? I'm in Corpus Christi.
Cheers!
