Is it the coil packs?

Please forgive me asking for help in my first post in this section...but the Audi has been boringly reliable so far - not that I'm complaining

But

Recently the battery light flickers intermittently and under acceleration the car hesitates at the same time as the light flickers on

I wondered if (and desperately hoped that it wasn't) a symptom of the coil packs giving out

The car is an A3 3.2 Quattro, 2004 with 29,500 miles

The coil packs dont have anything to do with the battery light.

Sounds like a loose terminal on the alternator or battery.
