Got the cerb back from mot. The car is perfect in every respect appart from the handbreak., it simply does'nt work and wont hold at all. Has anyone got a hanbreak on their cerb that acctualy works? There appears to be plenty of tension and the rachet works well. It does tend to make hill starts a little interesting, and as i have just had a new clutch and slave fitted i dont want to have to keep slipping the clutch on steep hills. Any advice/

Got mine back from Scole Engineering yesterday and the handbrake now works fine.

I'll drop them an e-mail and ask for you

Steps as follows:

1. Back the adjusters all the way off for the handbrake cable.
2. Wind the adjusters in the drum out until the disc won't turn.
3. Tap the disc with a copper mallet and the disc should free off again.
4. Repeat 2 and 3 until the disc will not turn.
5. Back the adjusters off until the disc will turn - some drag from the shoes within the drum is normal.
6. Adjust the handbrake cable adjusters to get the handbrake is at the right height.

As witnessed watching David Batty at the Garage do it - my handbrake works well, even on a hill! smile
