Help!
My exhaust is torn - the tube which has the can at one end and is welded to the rear boxes at the other end is tearing itself out of the rear box. I'm guessing i can just get it welded up, but out of interest what other options are there?

I'd be very interested in a tubular cat-back system which was just pipes - connecting to the (de)cats at one end and the cans at the other end.

So - does anyone sell new exhausts, alternative exhausts, or have other ideas?

The pipe can just be welded back on, that's what I did when Noisy's snapped, on the 'S' there is nothing inside the rear box anyway.

So - it turns out Racing Green do a pipe which does exactly what i want - you cut the existing pipe just forward of the diff mounts, and the new piece replaces the transverse box and then your can just slides on. Uses standard pickup points.
Two pieces obviously, one for each side.
Great build quality and suspect they improve the ground clearance but my car is so low (or was until last weekend) that within two weeks of fitting them i had broken both mounts which hold the pipes under the diff.

I wasn't too impressed, looked a bit flaky, thought they should stand up to more than one little ground out... so went to Racing Green this afternoon.

Colin spent a few hours helping me out, welding the mounts back up (much stronger than they were as supplied) and chatting in general about TVR, Speed Six engines, Cerbs, Peter Wheeler, classis jags, and so on. He did a fantastic job at short notice and refused to take any money off me.

Now i'm just as happy to complain when i get shoddy service as anyone else, but Colin at Racing Green went above and beyond today. Have to say that when i was looking to purchase a Tuscan a few months back i was helped in person and by email by Chris, and between the pair of them i can honestly say they have totally transformed my opinion of Racing Green as an outfit. They clearly aren't just another dealer, and i will be giving them opportunities to look after my cars again.

FYI i didn't actually buy my car from them and yet they still treated me as a valued customer - and i look like the definition of a scruffy pauper at the best of times!

So, Racing Green (and in particular Colin and Chris): thumbup and clap

So how does it sound? Any different? Less raspy? More pops and bangs? More flames?

Funnily enough the straight pipes don't seem to make much difference to the overall noise - but the difference between sleeved standard pipes and CCC's is huge (when you have no other silencing and big decat pipes!).

The CCC's are too loud, with almost constant rasp and a drone at motorway speeds. Funnily enough a mate who has CCC's and an otherwise standard exhaust (but with the cats hammered out) sounds perfect.

The standard cans with the half sleeves are quiet at 30mph and when cruising, but have a deep thrum when you open the taps which sounds lovely but isn't loud enough. I think this is how i'd have it for a daily driver or for a long european road trip.

The standard cans with the full sleeves are raspy, pop and crackle and bang just like they did before, but since replacing the standard boxes with the RG pipes the flames are now more obvious, more visible. No drone at any speed, but not particularly quiet even when cruising and at full chat you can probably hear me from more than a mile away...

Last time we put a db meter behind my car was on one of the london tunel runs - no cats, standard transverse boxes, fully sleeved standard cans.

Scale went up to 133db, i went off the scale at 4k rpm...
