Best new PC games
Discussion
Right i'm getting a new desktop gaming PC this week.
So I ask as i've not had any PC games due to my PC is very old and using the PS3 and Xbox for the past few years what good games do you recommend for the PC?
I like racing games, shoot em up's and games like Sim city, command and conquer, also Flight sims and counter strike and Battlefield 2 and footy manager sims
So whats your suggestions?

Left 4 Dead - brilliant online cooperative shooter
Crysis
Dawn of War 2
COD 4 & 5
Far Cry 2 - Well I liked it!
cheers for the feedbackLeft 4 Dead - brilliant online cooperative shooter

BUT:
got COD4 and 5 on 360 but after seeing the Zombie levels on the PC will be getting COD5. Fallout not my thing, had it on the 360
Far cry again have on the 360

ARMA 2 looks good too

For flight sims, I recommend FSX for general aviation (you can download and buy new aircraft and scenery, including a Blackbird
) and IL2 1946 for combat.The Sims 3 is also out soon.
Since you are on PH I assume you will also like Test Drive Unlimited and for sims, rFactor, GTR Evo and GPL.
That should keep you going for a while!
Have fun

For a strategy game Empire total war is well worth a look.

maybe in 6 months time when they have ironed out all the current bugs but for now I would say get Medieval total war 2 and then add the Middle Earth mod that turns it into Lord of the Rings http://www.moddb.com/mods/third-age-total-war
Also try Lock on: enemy engaged and Lockon: flaming cliffs
if you like combat air sims
FSX as already been mentioned is the way to go for GA. They have added some nice challenges in that one and I even managed to hook mine up to googlemaps for photorealistic (or shoudl it be just photo) scenery.
for shooters as already been mentioned: Left 4 Dead and team fortress 2
HTH

sorry to bring this back up but will I have any problems getting Flight Simulator X and Rfactor working on a pc of this spec?
vista 64bit
8 gig ram
Ati 4890 Graphics card
anyone see any problems. i'm not thinking if the PC can handle it but if the games are compatible?
Don't know about FSX but rFactor will run great, I'm running Win7 64-bit, 6GB RAM and an HD4890, and can run everything on max (including Level 3 AA) in 1200*1920.vista 64bit

Another vote for Dawn of War II if you're into strategy games, I'm only on mission 5 or 6 so far but really enjoying it. And Company of Heroes is supposed to be very good too. Another one worth a punt is Supreme Commander.

IMO it should be fine even on a high resolution and pretty high detail settings. If you start opening multiple windows and flying over large busy airports it probably will slow a bit but most of the time it should be OK.vista 64bit

You could try the demo first if you want to be sure.

If you haven't already played the xbox version(s), Half-life2 and it's episodic add-ons are worth a shout; they'll be cheap to come by as well as they've been out a while now.
cheers for the feedbackI have just bought the orange box mainly for TF2 but looking forward to playing HL2 again.
