verifying an IWC in London
Discussion
Hi I am in the process of buying a secondhand IWC watch, it doesn't have a box or papers and before cash changes hands the seller has agreed to take the watch and have it verified. As the seller is based in London can anyone recommend someone that knows his watches, who can inspect and comment on the watch?.
Thanks
Thanks
Sent you an e-mail Jim

Jim,if I were you I'd meet the seller at an IWC AD. Be upfront, and ask them nicely to offer an opinion. Even better, meet the seller at IWC head office (Richemont UK, Knightsbridge ask for Kevin). Before you meet, call the seller and ask him to confirm the model number and serial number, then call IWC UK to confirm one ties up with the other.
Buyer beware, I'm on holiday in Turkey and they have shops selling 'Genuine fakes'. The quality/accuracy of copy is incredible. Put is this way, I could wear one and fool most of my colleagues/clients. And yes, they have some fabulous IWC copies, the Hublot are almost perfect.
Just remembered, I was offered an IWC Ingenieur last year that was almost perfect. Be careful, and do not part with cash without an expert opinion.....
