hi
are ultima sterring racks adjustable?

I have some play in the rack and see there is an adjusting screw and lock nut on the top??? If adjustable is tight spot in centre or full lock??

thanks dom

A brand-new rack is not perfectly machined Dom so you cant set consistent mesh even before any wear has taken place.
I would just set-up the best happy medium along lock to lock.

Email Titan and they will tell you how to adjust any play in the rack

its easy to adjust... I did mine while it was not on the car.

Tight spots when using the rack are down to either overclamping the rack or it not quite being alighned right and this slightly distorting.

The ultima has a spiral pinion . This means that if its' bearings are not shimmed correctly you will have play in the steering wheel as the pinion screws itself in and out before it can move the rack . I think the screw is for bracing the rack at its' point of contact with the pinion to stop it flexing at this point .
