Removal of Trim Piece

Hi,

I need to replace a bit of trim on my Audi B5, it is the plastic suround to the wing mirror controls on the drivers side (The piece in front of the window controls), it is a bit scratched and I got a new piece from Audi (£13).

Whats the best way to get the old one off if anyone knows, it looks like a bit of brut force and ignorance might do the trick, but I have fallen for that one before!
