i just chagnged my front brake pads as they were squeeking as they were coming to a stop . and they were worn down to about 7mm , so low that the notch dissapeared.

i put some abtek ones on . these didnt have the usual notch in them . but now they are squeeking even when i brake around 30 mph and like moaning on nearly full lock slow turns even without breaking. the discs seems ok , it feels slightly ridged/bumpy and they do have a little rust lip on outer of discs . or was i being paranoid and need to give it a week to bed in ?

it got very bad on a sunday so with no other gargaes open i took it to kwik fit . who reseated the pads , cleaned and added grease. it shut up the brakes for the first three turns now squeaking is back getting louder and louder.

now a week on , its back to its first squeaking noise level prior kwik fit cleaned/greased pads ..its a very noisy squeak when breaking (even when not coming to last few moments of stopping) .

i am wondering , have i got the wrong pads . or discs need changing also ?

the originals had a notch in them , but these abteks ones are just one big flat pad . is it because it doesnt have a notch in them ?
- but the guy said the only difference is its meant to run cooler ?
