Hi,

Does any one know if you can hire an in car camera for a race weekend. I cant afford to fork out for a camera at the moment but would like some in car footage.

Thanks

I'm sure something like the ATC2K would do the job. The Ginetta's have them as their judicial cameras and the quality is pretty good. You can buy direct from here http://www.oregonscientific.co.uk/sub_actioncam.ht... or shop about a bit. I can't see hiring one being more cost effective TBH!

Have you thought of getting hold of a camcorder? Fairly cheap to pick up.

I use 2 of the 2k ones of them. Not bad quality.

Some of my videos so far:

In car footage
and
In car footage

I bought them off ebay - not too bad! Rechargable batteries a must though - something I need to sort out asap!! Plus have a bunch of 2GB SD cards.

I guess you could rent them from somewhere, but I have no idea where.

Good luck!!

Cheers

those action cams were awful in the Ginettas.

turned off with vibration, narrow lens means not much footage and on the senior cars the lenses flexed in the wind giving an effect like those bent mirrors at an amusement park.

Track club hire chase cam stuff out - give Stephen Docherty a ring and see what he can do.

alternatively buy this:

good little system for probably 3 'hire' fees

Ben, cheers for the heads up, I'd only seen have RacingPete had in his G20 and didn't think it was that bad. Ho hum, live and learn smile

For under £170 you can go high definition now! Try the Sanyo Xacti VPCHD-700:

I've got the HD800 which is 99% the same - I just bought the next model up to top-trump one of my friends. I use a mount from fastfilms.com and have it both inside and outside the cabin of my MR2 Roadster. Here's some sample footage - be sure to press the HD button on the lower right corner.
