Picture it like this , 20/21 year old lad with about 2 years no claims and quite fancying one seeing how the prices are stupidly low! will it be a dream or horror if i were to quote for something like this?

Or is there a much easier way round to get the 2.0 petrol or even , the 1.9 diesel just to get me in the ownership?

and whilst im here alert me of any ( ready to take cover ) storys on reliability factor as such? Ive read a bit about them but id love to know from people who drive them daily etc

Cheers for any replys biggrin

Pretty sure it's a group 20, so think porsche / TVR level insurance. At 20 years old, I'd be waiting out for a few years.... there are quicker cars that will entertain you for less until you can afford one. Also ignore anyone that says alfa's are unreliable is thinking back 10 years, not anything new.

I'm just under 21 and got some suprisingly cheap quotes on a 2.0 156 and that's with only 1 year NCB. With the extra year you might find quotes aren't too bad on the 3.2 (I suppose Alfa's aren't typical "young peoples" cars so aren't massively high-risk), just depends what you consider reasonable. Try Egg's website, they were noticably cheaper than their competition. If you find that V6 quotes are too steep then the 2.0 is still an fantastic engine.

Providing you can afford the Servicing Costs (and take note of the cambelt change costs, which MUST be done on time) then you shouldn't have any trouble.

It won't be that bad, I was insured on a 1 year old 156 2.0 at the age of around 20/21 for £800 ish, then I got a 3.0 GTV V6 at 21/22 and the premium stayed roughly the same smile
