The other night, after a couple of beers and intrigued by the adverts for "webuyanycar.com", I thought I'd get a quote for mine (08, 5k miles). I presumed they'd offer silly-money, bottom dollar, but was rather astounded that they offered £27k for it!

I've got no intention to sell, but as an indication of where the market is I thought it was very encouraging.

Still a bargain at those prices. However I have suffered depreciation but least it's not as steep as it once was. Unlike some who have seen their prices increase..

Mine was £21000 for a 17,000 mile 56 plate fully loaded model.

Although I have heard rumours that they try to 'renegotiate' when they come to pick it up by claiming it's not in as good condition as they expected, or the market's dropped.

No what they actually do is hawk your car around to find a buyer for it and then wait till the last minute and hit you with the low price and think you are desperate and will take it.

There explanation was that because the car was of a higher value & prestige that they looked to find a buyer first, they tried to chip me 2k on a mid 20's 530d.

I've just part-exd mine and they seem a little on the high side to be honest although I realise it is an industry statndard and mine is a 56.

I basically did the deal this morning on my 56 (Nov) Z4MC with all the trimmings, 17.5k miles / warranty until Nov 09 and Inspection 1 6.5k away. car is in great condition, 1 stone chips which could be fixed easily. I got £20.5k from Lexus on a part-ex after much getting up to leave, this figure includes things like me keeping my new-ish tax and refunding it. I probably would have got 22.5k private after haggling etc..

People will say why didn't you sell private but I needed 2 refurbs on alloys (small marks) and I need to hire a bigger car for a few trips over the next couple of weeks, plus the hassle of selling private it would have started eating into my private profits (the hiring and refurb alloys would have cost around £700).

What cheesed me off is I spoke to BMW and they offered me £18.5k even though they are selling virtually the same car for £26.5k - that is a mark up !!

I was hoping for a bit more and it is a buyers market for cars at the moment but saying that car manufactures need money so they can't give too much away...

I will be sad on Thursday when I take the MC for my last spin. Before anyone asks best car I have ever driven but I need more seats and boot room, owning 2 motorbikes as well I can only have 1 car...

As I speculated in another post, I think that the new ugly, heavy, barge Z4's introduction, and the confirmation that there will be no M car, or a proper coupe, means that the McDonalds Z4 will keep going up, and become highly collectable like the Breadvan Z3 has.

Don't underestimate the new z4 it might never be as hardcore as our current ///M cars but they will sell. My mrs coos every time the ad comes on. New slk?

I put my car into webuyanycar and got the exact price I paid for it in March. As far as prices go there seem to be a lot of doubters on these higher prices. It must be galling for people that have maybe been watching prices only to see them rise so much. I would imagine that most sellers however have plenty of time to wait for the right money so cars hanging around on classifieds shouldn't be misenterpreted as bieng overpriced. I can still see room for more of an increase as the economy picks up and the lack of a new replacement means there's almost no competition/alternative to the z4m.

Nice car and low mileage, but that seems a lot of money. Decent S54 Z3MCs still seem to be advertised at mid teens though and they are at least 5 years older than the Z4MC, which as you say must be good for Z4MC prices. smile

buymynewcar will not give you anything like that. Took mine in a while back and the 19 odd grand got knocked down to just over 18. They are scum just like carcraft. Waste of time!

Because there was nothing on the car they could knock it down on they came up with the excuse that I had ticked leather as an option when it was actually standard equipment. Laughed and walked.

I almost went through with a webuyany car sale. I was getting a superb price on their web quote.
However ..... when it came to the day to hand over i got a call from the manager of the drop off site to say that in fact they had made a mistake and they have 6 MC already that arent selling so they cant make an offer on mine. They were looking at getting the web quote system altered.

I had read various things about them and fully expected to get knocked down a little but i never got that far. I should have booked a time to hand over on the sunday instead of the monday as it probably would have gone unnoticed.

Here is a link to my now parted dearly beloved.
