I just got a phone call off them as I have been headhunted for 2 positions, see here:

http://mycareeruk.net/positions.php

Trainee Stockbroker

Trainee Financial Adviser

(how crap does that website look)

Told I had the perfect out look for getting them... Crock of st as its something I have never done and for money I wouldnt get out of bed for.

Then I've told the advisor to ring me back at lunchtime after I've looked through this agreement:

Dear Applicant,

I have recorded the following details for your confirmation on the Profile processing procedure in alignment to your live application.
As mentioned in our recent conversation, our consultants have identified sectorizational issues with your current CV which may minimise the chances of securing you an interview date with our recruiter. In alignment to this situation, authorities have advised a profile re-tailoring service to enhance the chances of securing the targeted position.

Once the profile CV has been tailored to the potential employer specification, we can then proceed to complete profile preparation enabling us to proceed to the next stage of the recruitment process.
Due to our trading account set-up, this procedure involves procedural payments of £75.99 on the agency and £74 on the applicant behalf to amount to original fee of £149.99 However, this is only a down payment on your behalf due a refund submitting with confirmation of an interview date within the next 10 working days. You will receive a confirmation receipts within 24 hours and the processed copy of your CV + Interview Preparation Package will also be emailed to your email account within 2 working days. All phases of the process are under the secure guarantee of our agency and in no point of time will you need to be associated with third party operations.
Please find a copy of our Terms and Conditions attached.
Best regards

Smells of scam...

What fun things can I do to wind them up for even attempting this?

Good timing, recruitment agencies scamming people were all over radio 1 news yesterday, although I think that was just 'free' ones taking a much higher cut of your wage than you think/agreed.

With this one actually asking for payment up front, i'd not run a mile, i'd run a thousand miles.

And I would run five hundred more.

Very very moody.

Check out their non-existent partner companies with names suspiciously similar to big recruiters.

"Kays Personnel" - FFS!

More and more recruitment companies are getting round the law which prohibits them from charging for employment agency services by charging for a CV review - which is a compulsory element of the registration process.

It's an American business model; some have been very successful over there.

One of the larger ones is 'The Ladders' (I won't put a URL as these idiots don't need any more free supporting links - Google is your friend)

Very slick outfit from over the pond - only deal in £50k+ jobs. I just can't believe - when there are is such an open recruitment market - that anyone would want to pay to sign-up.

I wrote to them challenging their approach when they launched here last year; they replied that their clients place higher value on a CV source which has, effectively, been screened by virtue of the payment. Sounds like they have convinced themselves of that.

Looked at them myself and when I saw the charge, simply thought... fk em.

Im not paying for something I know is good as I got my CV review by a professional this time round anyway.

Plus if I remember rightly they didnt even give me a taster of the jobs, so it was paying for the unknown too

Only incorporated 3 and a bit months ago, and they've already got a CCJ registered against them!

aAso, might be coincidence, but they changed their registered office address the day after the CCJ was registered.
