Thanks to the rent falling to more realistic vales, we are moving from our 2 bed apartment near Wafi to a 4 bed villa in Barsha.

Obviously we're looking forward to the additional space etc... but the one thing that I'm really excited about - it having the opportunity to wash my own cars smile - I have to admit that it will be more of a winter activity, but nonetheless I can't wait to get 'intimate' with the cars, so to speak...

Can't do it in the apartment.

Mabrook!!

Of course not having underground parking means that your car just gets dustier quicker.

Oh, and don't forget to factor in the cost for a gardener. And 2K a month in water to keep it all green.

But look on the bright side....at least you don't have to wait for the lift laugh

Good point about the lift - nor can I fall down the stairs when wanting a midnight nibble after a night on the slosh smile

We've already factored in a bloke to come in and look after the garden/yard as it's quite big (+ the increase DEWA costs). I'll see if we can arrange someone than comes in early and gives the cars a wipe during the summer - I have the same at the apartment as it is still outdoor parking.

Might get a cover for the Porsche as it is only really used at the weekends but it will be under a carport/shade thing.

Still not decided on a maid as yet - might just keep it to contract cleaners as we have and see how we get on - it has maid's quarters.

We're moving as well - from Meadows to Old Town Burj Dubai. No more waiting for half an hour to get out of the estate in the morning, shorter journey to work, better views, no garden to worry about. And a nicer pool.
Only problem now is how to get furniture up 34 floors...

Surely not your problem! Are you going to use a professional company to deal with the move for you? Is there a freight lift as well?

We thought about doing our move ourselves, I can borrow one of the company trucks and some labour but decided to go the pro route so that stuff is insured and packed properly.

Also - anyone know the score with Etisalat and DEWA nowadays - can I go and simply transfer bills from old place to new - or is it still a case of having the old place cut off and getting back deposits etc.. and then starting again with the new place? Been 6yrs since I last did it and it was a right pavlova.

hehe

You might regret saying that in a few months when we close access 3 to Shaky Z here and then there will only be one way in and out for the whole development!

Sorry but thats what the client wants and who are we to argue hehe We've tried trust me but give it 3 or 4 weeks of the residents complaining (Me included) and I'm sure we'll have a new access wink

Bloody Emaar!

That's going to be great, what with traffic flowing so easily around the mall car park entrances already....

Am staying at a 2 bed flat opposite Lamcy Plaza. It is a company leased flat (am on secondment) but if rents on villas in Barsha have fallen to a level which is on par with my flat then I would be very interested to explore further !

What's the building name? I'm on Street 8 - same as the Al Borz supermarket.

Signed the contract yesterday and made a nice early morning visit to DEWA to get it connected - had multiple copies of every document ever produced and still, thanks to some wording on an Arabic notification of ownership, it couldn't get done after waiting for an hour - really quite pissed off! So, the landlord now is coming with me tomorrow morning at 7:30am to argue with them!

Luckily I have nothing else to do, I'm not extremely busy and have plenty of time to mess about - I thought they had made all this stuff easier to manage nowadays.

Hi neighbour!
I get my Masafi delivered from Al Borz! I am opposite the mosque above Lane's Car Rental. Usually an M6 convertible and a white M3 convertible outside the showroom!
Decent shwarma from Pumpy's if you have not yet tried !
