Civic Type R faster on a b-road than an E46 M3?

I don't see why a CTR could not keep an M3 honest on a b road if it's well driven. In a straight motorway drag it's got no chance

What a plant! In no imaginary circumstances would a type r keep up with an m3 in a straight line!
Oh by the way, my z3 m roadster will beat a cerb in a straight line! biggrin

I dont think so even if yours is the M roadster its only 240 hp 0 to 60 in 5,2? top 137? weighs in even heavier? 4.5 cerb sorted 400 hp 0 to 60 3.9 if you can stop the wheels spinning only in third at 130 and will top out near 190?/ Next

z3m is 320bhp and limited to 155 isn't it?

confused

Not sure it's quicker than any cerb though! (in a straight line at least)

It was tongue in cheek guys!
& yes the M is 321bhp not 240 as stated & mine is not limited to 155....
NEXT?

Sorry for the constant edits but for somebody who owns a cerb & previously owned an M3, surely you would know that the M stands for exactly the same thing as your M3 did! & the Z3 M only weighs approx 1400 kg. NEXT

Ctr probably would stick with an m3 on a typical b road. So would a lot of performance cars these days. I'd prefer the m3 soundtrack, desirability and comfort whilst hammering down the road.

Pah!
CTR would struggle to keep up if the drivers were of the same standard. I guess it would have to be a darn windy road!!
Unless you mean CTR yellow bird?!!!!!

"So would a lot of performance cars these days" Not sure I agree much there. Like what? Most performance cars these days are very heavy, I still marvel at the Evo engine, there is not much out there 12 odd years later that can get close to it.

321PS ;-)

4.5 Cerbera would rinse the Z3MR. Actually it would rinse just about anything!

Well I've only riven an E46 a couple of times and not really in anger. To be honest, it felt about the same or slightly quicker than the vx220 turbo I owned at the time. And a VXT is a feckin' lot quicker than a civic type-r...

Greenm bought my Cerb and I took his E36 M3 Evo as part exchange. So he's gone from the M3 to the cerb and I've gone from the Cerb to the M3. As he points out, there is no comparison and by a long margin. And the M3 Evo is no slouch. Even with a bad start in the Cerb - I always went for traction and then large throttle - beyond 40mph you would be sat in the M3 looking at the Cerbs backend getting further and further away by the second. The Cerb wouldn't be far off 150, still pulling hard, when the M3 passes a ton. You've really got to drive one to appreciate the difference between a fast car and a supercar. The only thing that kept up with me when I owned the Cerb was sports bikes. And even then, with an average rider, it was a lot closer than you think. Oh how I miss her.... cloud9

I realize the Cerb would murder any M3 but i was being sarcastic because of the OP saying that his mates Type R would keep up with an M3. Always fancied a Cerb myself but couldnt live with the build quality or running costs.

No problem. I never really found the build quality too much of a problem to be honest. I owned the same Cerb twice, including from new. Yes there were some issues, but not nearly as bad as you may think or hear about etc. General wear and tear... running costs... well they are a different matter. My £1.5k Clutch went again within 6k miles... you wouldn't expect that from your M3 clutch! Having said that, I did see a Lambo clutch replaced at 6k miles at around £6k. So putting it into context, then it's a cheap supercar to both buy (even from new) and run compared to say a Lambo. You just need to have a fairly substantial pot of free cash every year to keep her in tip-top condition. As with any car, whatever it is, the amount of cash you need is a function of age, original purchase price, and exclusivity w.r.t. Specialist Garages and Parts, etc.
