OSR told me about Joe last Thursday, she used to be a mechanic/data engineer at FPA around the time Joe was there, I only made the connection between Joe and the Tuscans earlier today. Very sad news, condolences to his friends and family frown

I could be wrong, but I think Joe only did one round of the Tuscans, at Oulton Park in 2004, in Hugh's car.

Regardless, his loss is tragic particularly at such a young age. Truly awful for all his friends and family and my thoughts are with them...

It is with great sadness that I heard about Joe Tandy's tragic death in a road accident.

Joe was a hugely talented driver and a very good engineer who stood aside to run his younger brother Nick in Formula Ford and then Formula 3. Nick is similarly talented. Joe won the Graham Hill Memorial Trophy presented by the London Car Club of which I am Chairman. Through my connections with Nick Mason (father of Tuscan ace David) I met Joe and he raced my TVR Tuscan at Oulton Park back in 2004 run by Nick, doing amazingly well considering he had never sat in one before the meeting. Joe joins Tiff Needell and Ian Ashley on the list of talent that has driven my Tuscan (N0 3) in its many years of competition.

Joe was probably one of the brightest lights in UK single seater racing and could have gone on to geat things.
