Cruise or Fly?

I have missed the last two years of the race, but in the years before it seemed that the police presence was increasing rapidly as were the fines!

I have always enjoyed a 'rapid' journey and when i had the Ferrari there was only ever going to be one choice of car to take.

Which brings me to my conundrum this year, do I take the recently restored old SL Merc and cruise top down at 70, or join in the fun and zoom down in my DMS 330D BMW?

Take the BMW. After some of the behavior ive seen in the past years, i wouldnt take anything but my £100 volvo. if someone damages that, i dont care

Would never take anything valuable!

Least in the BM, no-one is going to rip the roof or throw beer in the car when the roof is down. Safest of the 2 modes of transport (all imo)

Same here, we never take anything nice,we had an expensive car get damaged one year . Take the Bmw

It is such a shame that the issue of what car to take due to crime/damage/behaviour when at Le Mans has even become an issue. For me, a good chunk of the enjoyment comes from the amazing mix of cars that you would otherwise not generally see, especially all in the same weekend. Compared to some i have not been going to Le Mans for very long, but since the first time i went in '99 it seems to me as if there has been a decline in the awesome road cars you see over the weekend. Again, such a shame.

Only my two cents worth though.

No question. It now seems to be more of a competition between Craig in his Focus ST and Wayne in his Cupra R as to who can cover more of the paintwork in "Boyz on tour 'ave it le man 2009 beer" vinyl.

I am really surprised, it sounds like a war zone down there! I have to admit I had noticed more and more 'Chavs on Tour' in the last few years I went,2006 -7. Has it really got that bad?

From what i remember the pouring beer in your car & "Spin it up/Do a donut mate" area was limited to one roundabout, it this now not the case?

My original worry was that if I took the old merc down, I would feel left out sitting on the N roads at 70mph as everyone else made significantly swifter progress....mayb I will go the auction now and find an ex- securicor transit to take...
