Looking at some new cars, would like opinions.

Hi. Iv narrowed my selection of possible cars to purchase as my next car down to the following;
Civic Type R 05
Integra Type R DC2
Golf GTI 1.8T (not sure if my budget will stretch to the 2.0 FSI MK5)
I just wanted some of your opinions on which is the one to go for as a daily driver but also something to upgrade and tune. Or if you have any other suggestions.

No probs. Check www.sxoc.com. And check your insurance. Suspect it won't be cheap as people like to drift everywhere with these... which inevitably results in insurance claims.
id go for one of the first two on your list, for sure. The mk4 golf isnt the most exciting of powerplants (but it is tuneable), nor does it have the chassis polish of the civic or the teg.
Having owned both though, they are night and day apart, despite sharing the same honda dna. A purer, rawer car than the DC2 you would be hard pressed to find in the fwd world. Its truly a wonderful car with sublime handling and an engine that, sonically, is better than the civic. Compared to the civic, its not a brilliant motorway companion, but is bearable but the thrills come on a good road where it still remains one of my all time fave drives.
By comparison, the civic is a lot more civilised but just as much fun. the engine pulls better lower down due to it being i-vtec, and as an all rounder, may just shade the teg, but this depends what you are after in a car.
Neither car will give you problems if you look after them - their engines are epic and very special in the way they deliver. I would say though that if youve never driven a vtec car, have a go - and rev the nuts off it (once warmed up!).
If you want big power and tuning options, go for a turbo - guessing your budget is in the region of 4-7k so this would get you into something like:
mr2 turbo
skyline r32 (r33?)
scooby (bugeye sti)
evo V or VI
i would highly reccomend either of the vtec engined cars though but depends on what you want from your car. I wouldnt say the dc2 is tuneable unless you go FI, although some good tyres, and suspension setup along with some uprated brakes would give you a b-road weapon. The civic will do better from some breathing mods sucs induction, exhaust and a k pro etc, and, again, some swear by a fast road setup and good brakes
