Avant S Line

Trawling through the classifieds looking for a 2005/2006 2L Tdi Avant s line
I keep seeing cars advertised as s lines but badged as 1.9 Tdi is this correct and if so is a 1.9 worth looking at or should I stick out for a 2.0l.

2l donk is much improved over the now prehistoric 1.9 - stick to the newer unit.

Assume you refer to A4 ?

There was a B6 S-Line model 2004- I think. Before that, it was the Sport with the same bodykit. And before that, the Sport had no bodykit. For the B7 2005- there was an S-Line 1.9tdi IIRC (along with a 1.6 petrol S-Line !!!).

The 1.9 TDI in that era A4 is just 115bhp so only just about adequete for the size of the car. THe 2.0 TDI is 140bhp so a lot better, although refinement isnt much better than the 1.9.

Having had a couple of 130bhp 1.9 A4s, and a 2.0 TDi Passat with 140bhp, I wouldn't recommend the 115bhp - the 130/140 are adequate. 170bhp 2.0 is lively.
