997 PSE quiet/town mode disable - with/without switch
Discussion
I know there have been numerous discussions about this, as I promise I've used the search function before writing this (honest) :-)
I'm trying to find out exactly how to disable the quiet mode for PSE which I'm planning on getting fitted next week.
In an ideal world I'd still be able to keep the switch working, but if not please can anyone tell me how I disable the quiet mode even if it means having the whole thing on all the time?
I'm not planning on doing the job myself (unless it's unfeasibly easy) so I need to be able to copy and paste from this link to show the OPC who's fitting it - who currently is telling me that it's standard fit, switch and 30-50mph quiet mode whether I like it or not.
Thanks to anyone who can help. I really appreciate it.

when it is fitted the tech's will fit a solenoid under the rear boot think it will be fitted on the o/s of the engine bay and will probably be mounted on a nice shiny piece of metal, which you can disconnect and this is what most choose to do as a permanent fix..
i have wired one so it works constantly as well as being able to use the switch also...

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but could do with some pointers on fitting PSE control to a car that has just hade a PSE exhaust fitted (a 3.8 997 C2).
The exhaust is on (currently loud but very nice!), and we have the solenoid valve, bracket, vacuum pipes, electrical plug/lead for the engine compartment and the right switch and switch panel for the interior.
Intention is not to have it connected to the rest of the car’s electronics, but just to have the system switchable between quiet and loud so it won’t automatically go quiet at certain speeds.
So, a few questions which somebody out there who’s done this can hopefully answer:
1. Is there already wiring in place in the car’s loom for this (ie, do we just plug the switch into a plug already behind the centre console panel, and are there wires in the engine loom ready to connect the solenoid to?). If it’s just a case of tapping into a 12v supply and earth, and running wires between the switch and engine bay, that’s not a problem but obviously it would be better to utilise an existing loom if possible.
2. Whereabouts in the engine bay is the point to make the electrical connection (the wire that came with the solenoid seems quite long – does it actually go through the bulkhead and connect somewhere in the passenger compartment?).
3. Will the car actually have a vacuum pump to connect to if it didn’t originally have a PSE exhaust fitted, or will we need to add a pump as well?
Any pointers would be most welcome!

For the perfect solution to PSE on/off switching and stopping it going quiet at pre-determined, go to Gert Carnewal's site www.carnewal.be and look for the PSE switch with remote control in the P97 section. Does everything you could ask for.

Anybody out there able to help with answers to the questions above for retro-fitting a PSE exhaust to a 997 that came with an 'ordinary' exhaust?2. I recently bought 997 4S with X51 power kit (2007 factory built) and I want to try the same thing (unplug)however I am a bit struggling as I am not that technical person.
Do you know it's that easy like other standard model w/o power kit ? Then could you inform me where should I unplug as mine seems a bit different vs the picture posted in this forum ?
Your advice/help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Andrew
Hi,
Can you post up a picture to show us how yours differs ?
As for the previous question just in case you are still interested, the wiring is not already in the car.
If you have sports chrono then you just need to run the wiring from the DME to into the engine comapartment and connect to the solenoid. If you do not have sports chrono then you will need a switch pack and wiring harness to the centre panel. Think if it was an early pre 2006 model you may still need to run some wiring to the front panel even with sports chrono.
The vacuum connection is made at the top left hand side of vacuum pipework with a 3 way rubber connection piece.

OK,understood.
I will try first & will come back with picture if I still can't manage it.
Thank you so much for the tips.
