Grew some rockets from seed this year - had a salad tonight.

The difference between supermarket rocket in a bag and straight from the flowerpot is chalk and cheese. Crisp and full of taste.

Yummy yum

Ive grown it and its lovely stuff! also lucky enough to find wild rocket when I lived in Kent. It makes a great salad if you mix it with some Sorrel and Chard, no dressing needed!

Nice. How long does it take from seed to salad bowl?

I reckon we've had lettuce, spinach, radishes and rocket from seed to salad bowl in 3-4 weeks this year. Spinach is doing particularly well in the warm wet days we've had recently and we've had about 3 big bags this week to go in salads, curries, risotto etc etc.

Our rocket is very tasty!

Given that we've had c £10 of salad leaves for the price of about £1 seed, with much more to come, I am well chuffed!

Rocket also makes a fantastic pesto with toasted walnuts and pecorino cheese, delicious stirred through linguine!

To be honest, we just chucked the seeds in a couple of normal plant pots with compost in them and watered on hot days!

That link makes it seem like a real green fingered job...

Salad leaves - dead easy to grow. We've been growing all sorts of salad leaves (red leaves and herb leaves alike). We've been eating them for a couple of weeks now. The more you pick at the leaves, the more they seem to grow. Excellent fresh smell and so much better than the supermarkets. When we grew them last year they stayed around until December - frost resistent which I was surprised about too!
