Hello All,

My speedo has packed up.

It won't turn over on the tens, the hundreds and the thousands - it's ok in between.

Also, one of the little screws has worked loose and is now holding the needle at a constant 45mph.

I'm in Bournemouth (DORSET).

Can anyone recommend a good place to get it looked at.

Don't want to travel too far.

What about swapping over to a digital one, is this possible?

Cheers

Sounds like 'whip out and send to Speedy Cables' job. I had to do the same at 50k.

Then it stopped again at 51k but got going again about 500 miles later

How did you get it out without damaging the silver surround?

Chimaera boys recommend tapping the clock as you drive along to release the jam.

You need to take the leather instrument surround off and loosen the connectors on the back of the speedo - it will then pop out of the front of the dash.

Ditto speedy cables - done mine earlier this year. It was about £85 I think...

Good luck

If the gauge has stuck in place, it suggests that either its reciving a constant signal or that the needle itself is stuck...

First step would be to disconnect the signal feed and see if the gauge returns to normal, if not then remove it and turn it upside down in your hand, to see if the needle moves around a bit etc (ie is the needle locked in place).

If it is still misbehaving, then ship it. I'm in Poole if you want a hand...

In case you are wondering the sender is located behind the inner end of the RHS drive (just past where it comes out of the diff) and has a jack-plug on it so it's easy to disconnect.
