Downhill Courses

[Night Rider]

Hello people,

I am looking to do a downhill course in summer to better my skills. I’ve already done a week’s course on maintenance and riding. I've had a look on the web and there seems to be lot's....but are they any good?

So can anyone recommend a good organization in England, France or Germany that provides a few days or even a week’s tuition? I would prefer England because it’s just easier to get the bike around on a train.

The lady (Kellie I think) who sorts it out (i.e. books it all) is very good, but I know there is a waiting list, and also you fit in around the Athertons racing schedule (obviously rather busy at the moment).

Expect about 3 months to get on the course.

Or you could try riding with some faster and better riders, this is always a way to push yourself; ask questions, watch carefully, don't be afraid to try new stuff - many riders don't have belief in their skills - however many riders are actually better and faster than they think, but their head says no.

I've done skills coaching in my years gone past and have a lot of experience in helping riders push harder, so if you need any help, just let me know

Where in the country are you? I have a friend who does this. He can travel and is qualified etc and teaches some 6th form college kids.

Also, I'm sure there are some courses run in France (Morzine) where you could turn up, do the lessons and get plenty of riding in via their chairlift to practice your new skills. Its not even expensive to stay there in my view.

i think its about £100 a week for self catered...

A mate of mine works for this company , his name is James Richards - a nicer lad you will not meet. Though he's still recovering from 2 broken wrists so maybe not up to downhill speed yet.
