Hi All,

The t'other half has a mini one convertible which appears to be leaking an oil like substance from the drivers side engine mount (left as you look at the engine)

I have fixed many a car but never seen a fluid filled mount?!

What is the deal here, urgent replacement or don't worry about it? - How easy is it to replace myself and finally how much!?

Thanks in advance

Chris

I have had a couple of engine mounts replaced on my 04 Cooper S under warranty.

Seems to be a very common problem with them leaking.

Might be worth while to see if BMW will do it FOC?

I've had one done under warranty too - '54 Cooper S.

I think it's like £100 to get it replaced?

Unfortunately it is just out of warranty, its an 05 plate.....

Why is it leaking, i have changed quite a few in my time but never fluid filled?

Is it something i should do asap?

I dont know how nessecary they are.

I just had my 3rd one replaced this year as my car went in for an MOT yesterday.

But surly that couldnt be an MOT failure?

Do they fail without leaking? This I believe is the second failure in 23,000 miles. Not sure if it is the same one though since one was done under warranty.

I presume you need to buy new bolts as well?

That is how they fail, they split and the oil inside leaks out. There are bushes and items out there to obtain extra life. Expect them to fail every 20k miles or less if you drive it hard, cost is £90 for the part I think.

If the oil leaks get it off immediately or it will just bond on there
