Drag Day with Shakey's to ourselves?
Discussion
Hi Guys & Gals. I've just had a phone call from Jerry Cookson at Shakey's. They are trying really hard to make up for what happened to us (Bearing in mind that rain was the main culprit!).
What I have been offered is a day in June or July midweek or POSSIBLY a spare Sat or Sun, with full contingencies. i.e ambulance, fire crew, timing crew, marshalls etc.
We need 50 cars at £50 each or £2500 between the total number. They would also ensure there were refreshment franchises open as well. They are also not going to force us to pay, if it it called off prior, due to bad weather forecasts.
If you are up for that, then it's just a matter of offering you some dates?
I personally think its a great offer and we could finish our Eliminator and more. Thank you to Jerry cookson and the management at Shakespeare County Raceway!
"Hi Gareth
Thank you for your time today, regarding the feasibilities in running a mid week event to supplement the loss of last Saturday’s events.
At this time Shakespeare County Raceway can offer a mid-week date on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in the months of June & the first period of July up until 12th of that month.
However, we have the following Saturday’s available too; Saturday 6th June and Saturday 4th July.
There would have to be a minimum of 50 cars or more taking part at £50 per vehicle. As this is a club event there is no admission charge to the site) If there is a shortfall then those drivers who have committed to run on the agreed date will be required to under right the cost per vehicle as above. The appointed track fee must be paid before the event starts on the day and a waver signed (as per last weekend). Should you wish to include another club within your day then that’s okay with our selves.
For this you will get timing equipment, timing boards, marshals, fire & safety cover, exclusive use of the track from 10.00am to 4.30pm. This would give you plenty of time for runs to be made before entering into a 32 car elimination ladder competition. This would not include track prep (i.e. track spray with traction compound) other than a clean sweep before the event, and it would not include on site commentary. A drivers briefing for novices can be conducted at VIP at 10.00 am (or another appointed time) by my self.
For this to now move to the next stage is for your club members to decide a date.
If you require any further information then please e-mail us or give us a call on and we will be happy to listen. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and comments.
Kind regards
Jerry"
