Omega Speedmaster Snoopy Edition
Discussion
Gents,
Posting on behalf of my father who suffered a buglary earlier this week. He's the laid back type and isn't really fussed about the things taken as he as contents insurance. What he is fussed about though is the above watch that was a treasured gift. From my understanding its a pretty rare watch I think only 5400 were made, his serial was in the 500's. Presuming the lowlife scum realise that it is not some Micky Mouse watch (see what I did there?) I would of thought they would try and get as much for it as possible through specialists and not £50 down the local. Not being watch savvy I haven't got a clue where to start looking.
I have imense faith in PH and wondered if you come across or are offered this watch to please drop me a pm? A reward would be issued. Almost forgot, the watch was located in Birmingham.

Sorry to hear about that. Worth keeping an eye on TZ-UK.com also, but to be honest I think that the chances of whoever took it putting it on here are slim to non-existent. I'm afraid that this has probably already been moved on by some lowlife scum in a pub for cash. Such a shame - a lovely and very rare watch.

I think Rolex have a register of stolen watches so that if a stolen watch ever comes back into the network that can recognise it.
Might be worth finding out if Omega do something similar?
Also worth handing flyers out to cash converter type businesses, pawn brokers etc locally - these scum rarely have the gumption to fly far from their cesspits

Bump Again - I'll keep an eye on Ebay and elsewhere for you.
Was the "Snoopy" Speedmaster in recognition of the Apollo 10 Mission ?(I know that the callsigns for the Apollo 10 Lunar Module/Command Module were Snoopy/Charlie Brown).
The Snoopy Speedmaster was to commemorate the Snoopy award that Omega received following the Apollo 13 mission...Was the "Snoopy" Speedmaster in recognition of the Apollo 10 Mission ?(I know that the callsigns for the Apollo 10 Lunar Module/Command Module were Snoopy/Charlie Brown).

Thanks for the heads up guys, i'll be dropping emails and phonecalls to all the local pawn shops today. The fact that they used his own pillow cases and black bags to steal anything remotely valuable beggars belief! I'll keep you posted.
I wouldn't let on that you have had a watch stolen with these people. My wife had a watch stolen in a burglary some years ago, and BIB suggested the CC type establishments as worth trying. Lo and behold, she visted our nearest branch, only to find what looked like hers - it was only a Cartier, but had an unusual strap / case colour combo. Anyway, she had a viewing, noted the serial number, and cross-checked with her original paperwork to confirm that it was hers. Then got BIB on the case, and despite this, CC tried to get her to buy back her own property! Eventually got it back though. If they think you suspect its your property, they're not going to be helpful.
Good luck.

If he wants to replace his 'Snoopy' with a BNIB 8xx/5400 one using the insurance payout at around £1900 then drop me a PM and I'll tell you where there's one for sale.... Was planning it myself, but hate to see someone lose out to the 'scrotes'.Posting on behalf of my father who suffered a buglary earlier this week. Just spoken to my dad. Apparently the scrotal scum were trying at least 4 other houses in the immediate area due to police reports of screw driver marks all over the neighbors upvc doors. Insurance assessor due out on Tuesday and would not deal with the claim over the phone. Unfortunately, he claimed around 6 months ago for a faulty boiler that sent the roof up in flames and burnt to a singe pretty much every childhood possession I ever had! He reckons they aren't best pleased! Still that's the whole point of insurance right? Keep you informed.
Just saw this feed, and thought I should reply.
The watch in Question is worth far more than the origonal price. These are going for £3800 now. If its insured you the value should go some way to the sentimental loss.
I have a Omega Speedmaster Snoopy No 3207 of 5441 bought in 2003 from a main dealer. These are indeed very rare watches, and are one of only a few Omega watches that go up in value. This is mainly because of their limited number. 5441 were made a the Appollo mission which lasted X days, 54 minutes and 51 seconds.
The Moon watch is the only watch qualified for space flight by NASA. So the next time someone says, Rolex or Bretling are better, the simple answer is "No there nNot according to NASA" (who am I to say better). All the swiss watch manufacturers were asked to provide watches to Nasa for testing and qualification. Only the Omega Speedmaster passed all the tests. Hence why they are the best watches in the world. (I see why your dad liked his watch)
Your insurance should pay at least £3500 to replace the watch. Also, if you still have the paperwork, you should report this to Omega. At some point someone will put that watch into a jeweller for Service etc. Thats probably the only chance you will have of catching the crooks or the idiot who bought a dodgy watch. Down side is that Omega will return this to the Insurance company as it will belong to them.
Good Luck

Not actually *that* rare really - the Gemini is much more limited and doesnt command such a premium - same with the Apollo 11s. Its the Snoopy link which people seem to love.I've lost touch though if these really are going for £3800 these days! You could get a box and papers pre-moon speedy for that!
