Southend Airshow
Discussion
Anyone going to Southend airshow which is on this weekend, Sunday and Monday? It is free and usually pretty well attended.
I'm going to be there, but watching from the water rather than on land.

I'm taking a trip down there today.
News earlier this week was both the B25 and Apache had cancelled.

It is a quite truncated display this year, I think the casino pulling out of the sponsorship and the RAF cutting back on displays, i.e Harrier pulling out of all shows and the Tucano pilot being out of action due to the crash the other month, has hit it badly.
I usually go to the airport but most of the aircraft are operating from elsewhere. Typhoons and Reds from Manston, and the classic jets, Gnats and Vampire from North Weald.

Was staying at Leigh on Sea Saturday, courtesy of my daughters boyfriend who lives there. We walked down to watch the show yesterday from the beach and got a good view. Great fun watching the Red Arrows buzzing over the town and being deafened by whatever the delta winged plane was at the end of the show. Best bit for me though was the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. Never tire of watching Spitfires, I think they're the most beautiful piston engined aircraft ever made. Anyone going today?, the weather may be not so good apparently.

decided to give the show a miss as the great weather would've bought out all that is bad about Southend.

although as someone said, it did illustrate all that's bad about Southend!! I just hid right by the water with my camera and got on with it
Pray tell guys ?One of the things i'm thinking is the mass influx idiots ..... (not putting you in that category

I was there on Sunday, watching from offshore. The good weather was nice, though I'm glad the sun was behind us. The rain came on monday as we were sailing home.
It was a disapointingly short display this year, noticably fewer aircraft than in previous years.
Here are a few photos I took:

And as we were making our way past Maplin sands, we were overtaken by MTB102 probably heading towards Lowestoft:
