What are the ad' campaign that are really really crap? Not just TV but any ad' campaign that you just see and think: "Why? Why would anyone think this is a good idea?"

First up I'm going to nominate Michelins godawful 'Show me the logo' campaign, what the fk? The most poorly made adverts with a stupid slogan that nobody cared about.

Next the retarded Peugeot 'Drive Sexy' bullst... "I know what would make a great advert! A condesending salesman talking to a stupid bint about foglights and then we'll say it's sexy" the whole drive sexy thing is completely cretinus.

Anyway over to you guys.

When you see how many of those monstrous Renaults are on the road, it's clear that an annoying advert with matching song will sell ugly cars to stupid people.

Likewise the 'heroic' 406

That bloody TV ad with the odd cardboard head fella from the '80s who starts shouting to another of his oddly fibrous faced friends. First time I thought it was some sort of surreal swedish dentist film or something.

I remember saying to a mate that it was crap, and I didnt actually take any notice of what they were selling, so yeah, all in a pretty st advert, well done you bds.

When you consider the thousands of marketing messages that you are bombarded with every day any that make their way through to your concious mind are a great success.

Ergo these Michelin and Peugeot advertisements are the exact opposite of what you think. They have succeeded.

Being incongruous is a great tool for advertisers to use to get your attention. In these cases it has worked.

Wow! really?

You forgot to mention the social psychology, usually constructed around aspirational references pertinent to their targeted demographic. Those not belonging to that demongraphic are likely to either hate/or not understand the appeal of the campaign.

Odd that.

Other adverts I fking hate:
Iceland / Kerry Katona
The Evian one - with the swimming babies

I disagree, some adverts I remember, and I KNOW I will never purchase the product.....

For example, Yaris, you could love it too much.

There are plenty of adverts which I don't even know what the product is, they just don't make sense, just arty farty s**e...

You mean the ones with the tiny print that says you have to have an income equivalent to that of a Steel Billionaire?

I HATE the "We Buy Any Car" advert that stupid rap/jingle is painful and you can tell the advert is aimed at plebs from the dire music in the rap/jingle.

The worst advertising campaign is one that you have seen and still are totally unaware of. One that hasn't even brushed your subconcious.

Then the advertiser has paid to try and reach you and has failed.

What of those that you do see and take such offence at that you decide to not buy that product based on that advertising?

More like the one where you hate the advert so much you resolve never to buy the product.

You are forgetting that ALL perfume adds are utterly pointless. How is some whispy bint going to tell what it smells like by chasing a kite?

No. One you hate is better than one you are unaware of. Because if you've remembered it, regardless of liking or disliking then they have increased awareness, not just of that particular product but also the parent brand and company. Recall is important.

The recent Police campaign seems to be really badly thought out. Ads in print and at bus stops saying: We'd like to talk to you. Depending on who you are.

Not on what you've done, then?
Hmmm...

And they're all scare tactics anyway.

Hmmm public campaigns by the state....

Surely they are just looking after our wellbeing?

Maybe we'll get a leaflet drop sometime soon
