Quick temps question/comparison

Now its starting to come up to the warmer months I just want to check my temps are in line with what I should be seeing on my T350 (all when car is fully warmed up);

Water - on the move I see 90-95 and in traffic at idle I get it fluctuate up to 98 or so, both fans on by this time. Occasionally the digital read out will flick to 100 but thats a one second jolt rather than constant. Does this sound about right with the rest of you? I have an ally rad fitted and over 1000 miles have lost no coolant.

Oil - On the move low 60s to early 70s, though in traffic/idle this will rise to high 80s early 90s. Again does this sound about right? This does go down quite quick when on the move again due to the airflow.

For both oil and water what are the temps that I should start to worry about?

They sound OK in general. My car ran around that - but never hit 98 (second fan) unless v hot and in proper traffic. After a run on a warm day, coming down my road/estate at 1mph (multiple speed mountains) it would hit higher 90s. Does your first fan come on/have effect at all?

Sounds more or less the same as mine.

Thankyou - The first fan does come on at 94 and if in the shade or on a cooler day will bring the temp down. On a warmer day (yesterday for example) both fans will be on and take a little while to bring the temp down in traffic - as mentioned on the move it'll come back down to low 90s.

The main reason I want to check now is I want to do a Southern France run later this year and the temps will be way higher than in the UK, hence if I know she running within correct tolerances now then I know she'll likely be fine when abroad.

Mine got pretty warm stuck in traffic into Monaco, in 2005. Otherwise the south of France in summer was fine.

Car outside temp gauge thought it was high 40s and water and oil were knocking 100. It was hot enough to melt the glue holding the logo onto the keyring. Other than that the car was fine. Bloomin unrelable TVRs.

PHEW! Mine overheated (5 days into ownership on Kew Bridge!) because of a small hole in one of the hoses which Trimar spotted straight away (unlike Mr AA man)

I've been very worried about the temps since....but these seem exactly the same as mine.

Just need to sort the oil pressure gauge now which is all over the place!

The water temp gauges are not very accurate.When you next have it serviced ask to see the computer readouts whilst its running on my Sag an indicated 94 before the second fan cut in was actually 89.makes you feel happier when the high 90s appear on the dash to know its overreading by 5 degrees.

Mmmm. My oil temp on the Saggy won't go above late 50's.
I know of another Sag and exactly the same.
Is this a problem or just a duff sensor

HI Lee,

That is definatly a duff sensor or something else. You should be getting it into the 60's before giving it welly.

The temperature sensors are often out by a few degrees, by the way... had mine checked properly and the number the car was showing were 3-4 degrees higher than actual. Apparently there's a bit of variance in the accuracy car to car.

(But your numbers look fine - after I'd stuck on a second header tank mine were just a few degrees lower)

Just returned from Scotland, 700 miles in 4 days,temperature on motorway, water 73/75,town traffic 88/90, oil up to 70 ish, fans in at 92/3 and 2nd about 94/5
