For your size of company, we always use a self developed excel spreadsheet, keeps things simple and doesn’t over complicate things.
If you looking for a more wide spread, user friendly program i would personally recommend Quickbooks.
Indeed, I personally think clients like to try and complicate things with software when excel is more than adequate. If you looking for a more wide spread, user friendly program i would personally recommend Quickbooks.
If you're comfortable with double entry booking, then software can be useful, if not, it can be a nightmare.
Quickbooks is reasonable, and wages program is very user friendly compared to others.
Whilst excel is fine to start with, personally I would get a decent software package as it will be able to add other dimensions to your business (if you use them) such as project pricing, payroll, VAT returns. Software we run also hooks up with bank and as such you can BACS direct from it, etc.
I run my businesses on excel for first 3 years, turnover being around 2 million, with approx. 200 invoices in per month, 10 men on books and between 5-15 labour only (either CIS4 or 6). In hindsight I should have switched earlier but ended up waiting & waiting and finally implemented it at year end as this was obvious time to do it.
Edited to add, just simple things like remittance and recipts are taken care of saving so much time.
