At the risk of being mildly controversial, while recognising the GT-R as one of the fastest cars on the planet, I don't think I could ever buy one as speed isn't everything. A bit 'kings new clothes' perhaps?

I think they are awesome, mental cars. I nearly bought an R33 GTR VSpec once upon a time, but chose a Chimaera.

Saw one the other day looked dull and sounded pants. I imagine it being like sat at home on your sofa on the playstation, you can see your going fast and it sounds like your going fast but it dosnt feel like your going fast.

Last thing I would want is to go into a corner really fast and for it ask me to hit cntl alt and delete.

Wouldnt say no to one as an everyday car but not as a weekend toy

Its epic. Vision blurring acceleration. The feeling that whatever speed you go around a corner, it could do WAY more. Very clever gearbox (despite all the whining about launch control) Massive presence.

BUT

If I had £55k, I wouldn't buy one. They're fabulous cars but they're not a Cerbera and (for that money) A Noble M400 for trackdays and an RS4 for going to B&Q.

You have to admit though that 0-60 mph in 3.5sec and a top speed of 193mph for under £60K is impressive, added to that the Porsche beating 'ring times. A Chimerea is an interesting alternative. spin

I think the GT-R is a fantastic piece of kit - other than maybe a GT3 RS why would you buy a porsche ?. It's a giant slayer in the same mould as TVR's. I think the looks of the GT-R will grow on you over time - it's certainly not an ugly car to begin with. If I didn't own or want a TVR, I'd be very tempted by a GT-R.

I think it's an amazing piece of technology, but I'll reserve full judgement until I drive one.

But currently, it's a full-on, full-throttle, petrolheads car.

Respect it, and those who drive them properly, I say!

I think allot of people have said that yes they are very capable, yet somehow lacking in character and fun. Kind of the other way round with TVRs smile I'd pick character anyday.

I WANT ONE BADLY!

I've been considering getting rid of my Chimaera for some time now, but i honestly cant find any car that could take its place. The Nissan 370Z comes close, but i'm sure these will be common like the 350Z in a few years. Great cars though.

However, i would happily part with my TVR for a GTR, though in reality, if i could afford £55k on the GTR, i would also keep my chimaera.

Whilst i love my TVR, the engineering of the GTR is in a completely different league. The performance for the money is astounding, i think it looks amazing, and i honestly believe this is a massive leap forward for the performance car. If i had £200k to spend on a car, i would still honestly choose the Nissan. I want one so much.

A Nissan GTR WILL be my next car smile

Having been a passenger in one for a brief run over the Chatsworth weekend,I can honestly say its the quickest machine I've ever been in.
Like some others,I'm still debating in my head if its what I would want form a car,but you can't deny the ferocity with which It can devour the miles on any road surface.
A truly remarkable car.
If I see one in my mirrors,I will wave him past, not that he or she would need an invite.

Saw a pretty good looking gunmetal/off brown metallic type coloured one today. Still wouldn't buy one though.

Drove one for about 70 miles the other day and a great car. It did not feel an occasion though, I am driving the same car at the top gear test track in a couple of weeks so I will get a better opinon then.

I will probually buy one in the US as my every day car fo when I am over there. Will not sell my Sag though.

Great Car, as are all the Jap 4WD rally/race type cars, Evo’s etc. I have never driven a GTR, certainly would not decline an offer to do so, but I would not buy one now.
I had a Evo 6, then an 8, fantastic cars, nothing quicker [ except a GTR ?? ] A to B on our lovely bumpy B roads, BUT, here is the crux, they just do not stir your soul anywhere near like my Tuscan does smile

as amazing as it is, and it is amazing, it is ultimately a fandagled computer on wheels... the only thing lacking is autopilot and that is why I would never buy one. I prefer to drive my cars, however crap and slowly, myself

Best thing about the Datsun GTR is that this nice man sold me his Cerbera because he had one on order. When we went to pick up the Cerb my mate said 'I hear you've orderd a GTR, bet you're looking forward to that?'. He just looked sadly at the Cerb and said 'Yes, but I don't think it's got a soul like a TVR'. His young son was a bit upset as well. I thought we'd better leave before he changed his mind!

In twenty years time the GTR will be looked upon as just a great car for its day. The Cerbera will remain a British motoring icon biggrin

had one on order last year and after going to le mans and seeing again the interest in my sagaris i cancelled my order ( no 31 ) .still no regrets. at silverstone last week and look a gtr.... not much faster on hanger straight , but with my limited skills i know who was enjoying more . just read that the gtr needs to be checked after every track day to keep the warranty claims honoured ( evo )., any way agreat car but never forget so is the tvr
