Cheers Guys - Really glad you liked it! Yeah it did take ages but its worth it in the end.

Depending on when the next one is I'm hoping to have a camera crane which will give some interesting shots.

I too did enjoy the DVD.

I hope this doesn't come accross wrong, but I think there are limitations of how much you can make out of what is in essense a boring event, when you are not there taking part, feeling the buzz of the day and soaking up the atmosphere. Subdue the atmosphere post event and remove the live taking part bit and you have cars driving fast in a straight line! With that in mind I think what has been produced is excellent.

I accept you can only film what we do and you of course have limits of how many places you can be in at once.

By way purley of constructive comments, not any sort of dissatisfaction I would add:

The shots of the cars leaving the line are great and I wouldn't want to remove them, but they are limited. I don't think many of us launched off the line, I know I didn't it's the car friendly appeal of the day, rather than a 1/4 mile run. Also how many times do we run against a comparable car - maybe a few times out of the day, the rest of the time odds are you are either way faster or way slower than the other vehicle.

I think maybe more footage from the pre-straight bend. Surely everyone must be trying here. Even if you were taking it easy off the line and using the post straight circuit as a cool down as I was, the bend onto the stright must be where most of the action was, so I would liked to have seen footage here.

Likewise, although maybe a bit tedious shots of the cars in the stride on the stright and maybe even under braking would have been of interest. So maybe more in this area.

A rolling camera would be ace, but I understand there is preparation in that maybe we don't have time for.

The in car stuff was great, especially speedo cam which gives you the sense of acceleration you loose when not in the car yourself. If practical more of this.

I've only been twice, but I always come away from the day wishing a few things:

1. I wish my top speed was higher of course but we'll skip that

2. I wish I had more runs with some of the other cars in a similar speed league to me

3. I wish I had arranged some level(-ish) rolling starts at the bottom of the straight, post bend so it's a real equal rolling start comparison.

What I love is everyone is so responsible they give each other load of room around the bend - a mutal common sense and respect - it does however end up splitting the cars up when it comes to the stright line stuff.

Just an off the top of my head idea, but maybe for those interested we could run a board of times through the morning, or knock one up at lunch. In the afternoon, those not so fussed about doing constant absolute best VMAX runs could use the board to see who would be good to run with from a post bend rolling start. Now if those runs were filmed with a camera car somehow, I think that would make excellent footage.

Filming could be tricky but the rolling starts should be able to be managed by the two cars without a change in format to the day or much difference to the throughput.

Some of this may not be practical or flawed, but I keep meaning to put my thoughts down, so this is it.

Graham,

I know what you are saying and I'm trying to sort out a couple of rolling starts to film but its getting a driver with me on the day. Yes straight can be very boring as straight line speed doesnt really come across on camera. This is just something I have to live with so thats why some gentle music helps to fill the dead audio.

However I am trying to get a CamCrane:

Now this will spice up the footage so much as I can get soo many different shots with it. But to get the complete setup you are looking @ about £1000 just the crane and misc equipment. The crane setup would be great for the start/bottom corner before the straight and of course the timing gates.

Another idea has been to inform the runners before starting where I am filming so you can put your foot down if you want too. But not to showboat and cause loads of sound so has a 50/50 effect. I want it to be more entertaining but I don't want people to act a fool and cause loads of noise can get us kicked off.

I try not to use any footage of going slow as its boring and will only put a video out if I can sit down and watch it time and time again. It is difficult to make brunters a fun place. I thought of about doing something in the lunch time, setting up some cones and getting people to do timed laps?

Not sure if this is possible or even if people are interested in?
