I took my boy up to Loch Tay area last summer, with all the camping gear packed ( and plenty of firelighters
).
Anyway, went up in the Fiat Estate and my lad didn't like the mozzies, so we ended up kipping in the back of the car.
It was fun cooking though, and probably not supposed to have fires there... jeez, what the hell CAN you do these days ?
Don't camp next to a river.

Yes, forecast is great for the whole weekend...at last.
I'm going to a new TVR specialist open day on Sunday (Selby), otherwise might have met up.
I reckon the Lakes will be pretty crowded, but there's some lovely spots in Swaledale, and plenty of space to drive or camp. Just steer clear of the obvious tourist places like Aysgarth/Reeth/Hawes unless you need to shop or buy fuel. Talking of which, I'd check to see where there are garages to fuel up.

Try Fisherground Farm, they used to have fire pits already laid out:

Some of the best scenery in the Lakes is in that area, plus Hard Knott pass to drive over...
