Hello I am looking at getting a mini 1000 soon for my first car and just wondered what I should look out for. Obviously I know rust is the main issue and also sub frames but how will I be able to tell if these are fine? Also what else should I be looking out for when I go to see one will try and take someone who knows more about them but advice on what I should look for myself is appreciated. Below is a link to the advert of the one I am going to look at hopefully emailed seller and he said has no rust and the sub frames seemed sound last time he checked so seems okay to me but obviously will need to see for myself. All help appreciated

1800 doesnt seem bad, you have to think that any mini is worth 1500 if its got a full mot.
the only things id point out on the orange one is that the arches are blended in to the body work, this is bound to crack and look rubbish (particually at the front) very quickley as the car flexes aboout or if the large wheels catch the fibreglass arches.
also the high bucket seats will prevent anyone from easily getting in the back
oh, and black and silver plates are asking for a tug..........
best thing to do if your unsure, is you peel the carpets up and poke around in the floor and sills, any rot will be apparent, i assume the paint is fresh, so any horror on the outside will be hidden.
your not going to get a rot free minter for less than 2500 - 3000 grand now-a-days though

Okay thanks for that the arch thing worrys me but if that happens it would not be that major and suppose eventualy would just stick some normal arches in. With regards to the bucket seats I wanted them anway as I am 6 foot 2 and they are a bit lower than standard so they would be required for me to fit inside it really lol and no one with legs will be able to go behind me anway. I think if the seller would hurry up and give me a reply to the email I sent him and if it looks pretty clean with little rust and the subframes are solid I might go for it will take along a trusty magnet to check for lots of filler as well because who knows what lurks beneath the shiny paint lol. Looking into the engine not that fussed really as the 1000 engines look like they can be picked up for next to nothing is mainly rust I am going to be looking for. Hopefully will be able to have a look today once I have welded up the exhaust on my scooter at my dad's mates as it decided to blow lol
