Griiff rear lamp (leftside)

I need to replace a left rear lamp on my Griffith.

I think the rear lamps on the Griff are mounted reverse in comparison with standard Cavalier ?

So do I need to order a Left or a Right hand Cavalier rear lamp to replace a damaged left rear lamp on my Griffith ?

Do you know the Lucas part number for the convenient rear lamp. LPB ??

Yes they are Cavalier ones turned upside down.

Now I am led to believe there are 3 different types. GSI one which is the most common and tinted. Then theres the untinted versions both of which have diffent coloured glass in the indicator part, one clear ( must have used a coloured bulb) and one with the orange glass.

I have some more info that Mr Barretti sent me for the alt parts list I will look them up for you as i need to add them t the list.

So I presume I have to find a righ standard cavalier to replace my left hand broken lamp.

V136 JR is the one you want for the left one (nearside) this is the un tinted version that has the orange glassed indicator ( of which can be taken out if you want a more "modern" look) if you want the one that doesnt have that option then its code on the glass would be V136 AR.

Unsure about the code for the tinted GSI ones, I do have a set in my loft in case i ever want to change mine back to original ( it has the last 100 look atm ) so can pop and have a look tomorrow for you.

Ebay normally has a few now and again but the GSI ones are becoming harder to find.

I would replace both of them if getting new parts, that way no worry about getting the right side or the wrong type, but the main reason is you'll notice that the orange has fadded on the old one, once you put the new one on.

Good advise about getting the 2 so as they match.. They are not straight forward to fit though.. You have to grind the edges off of the lights to fit tight.
Best to do the one that isnt broken first & reverse the process on the other side ,,, If you see what i mean,, Hope this helps stuart g

I have a couple of questions on the rear light units if someone could answer them please.

Are they from a hatchback or a saloon,I presume that they are not the same?

Mine seem to have seperate bulb holders for each lamp,the ones that I have seen have a clip in unit which has all the lampholders fixed together and a multi pin socket.I would like to replace mine but it would be easier if I could find:

The correct replacement with seperate bulb holders so I do not have to alter the wiring.

P.S Forgot to say mine are fully black tinted could this be just a cover,although it seems to be a complete unit.

It seems they are 2 Vauxhall Cavalier rear lamp models : Hatchback (5 doors) or Saloon (4 doors).

Do you know which one is the right model for the Griff ?

I HAD THESE AFTERMARKET ONES ON MY GRIFF AND I HATED THEM, SOLD THEM A FEW WEEKS AGO, NEVER SEEN THEM BEFORE AND HAD DIFFERENT BULB HOLDERS..........

For comparison, here's a pic borrowed from the classifieds of a car with the GSi clusters. In answer to the question, there's no difference between the saloon and hatchback clusters.

There was a third version of the lamps, fitted to late Cavaliers (c. 1993 onwards)which were also smoked, but they had a piece of black plastic trim moulded into the top of the unit which would probably not look very good on a Griffith.

cheers for that... just bought 2 new ones, noticed at the Growl that dirt/soot had blackened the reversing light on one so looked odd...... cheaper then ebay ... less then £27 for both inc delivery.
