I can't believe the water gauge is designed to give the high reading that many Cerberas suffer from.

Has anyone tried testing the gauge by placing the sender in a glass of water of a know temperature?

If the gauge passes this test the obvious variable is the under bonnet temperature and the length of the capillary tube.

Has anyone run the capillary tube through a heat shield sleeve?

I use a digital gauge. Much more accurate.

I don't have a picture, but I simply replaced the old analog oil/water gauge with a digital one made by Spa. You can see their dual gauges here:
