My dad had one of those remapped to 160bhp was the best 4 door car he ever owned full stop in his opinion and I loved it as wellsmile Always says if they released it again he would choose it for his company car over any new mondeo, insignia, 3 series etc…

Northern Ireland.

It's not a 'private' plate at all, they're commonly known as pikey / mick plates are are often used by people as 'ageless' plates.

They're cheap as chips - can pick them up for under £100 and are just a little bit pikey, really.

(And yes, I have one myself, as the car came from NI and I really can't be arsed swapping it)

It's still a private plate - as I selected it and bought it for myself.

And I'd be VERY surprised if you can find an NI plate with 3 letters and 2 numbers for less than £800...

What I would call a pikey plate would be one where fixing screws have been strategically placed to make the plate spell out a name. Or where illegal spacing and an illegal font has been used to make the plate look like a European plate...

I didn't pay for my plate. It was on the car when I bought it.

There must be some real mugs around if mick bog standard mick plates can fetch £800.....

Fair enough. Around here you'd have been pulled over for that plate! But I'm guessing the 75 isn't your daily driver?

The fact that it's a short dateless plate is what makes it worth something. It's not bog standard - the bog standard NI ones have three letters and four numbers. But even those fetch good money for the right letter combinations.

Here's a few similar ones to mine currently on the market :

SXI 14 - £2,576 inclusive
SXI 40 - £2,195 inclusive
SXI 26 - £1,926 inclusive

Mine was under £1k inclusive. Which makes it a bit of an investment (not why I bought it, but it is a nice afterthought).

You should be aware that your one is worth a bit as well, should you ever feel like selling the Alfa...

wavey Calibrax! Didn't know you had a ZT now, looks like a lovely motor. Can't help thinking you're at least a little bit bonkers to pay that much for a plate, but each to his own eh? smile

My attempt at humour reference all the GB badges plastered all over it missed the target frown

Nice, however you need a smaller front plate, it should just fill the number plate recess like this one does smile

Would be nice, but surely that font size is not legal? I don't want to get pulled over... my plate is a standard size.
