best place for servicing

I did some comparisons before my last service. The former dealer was quoting a cheaper price for the service I needed than the local indy. I think the former dealers have been forced to reduce their prices, because they are essentially indies now themselves. Do a ring round, you might be surpised.

This is true, when I was at Castle the other week chatting to Joe about service costs, after they did my new rad, he was quite open that their prices have trended downwards to keep them somewhere near the indie's. They still arn't the cheapeast but I shudder to think what a 12/24K service, before repairs, would have cost when TVR was alive and kicking. Basically this would have prevented me from entering TVR ownership as I could not aford to run it how it needs to be kept! TVR main dealers were similar to Aston Martin, about 3-4 years ago !
I was always joking with the GF how her Sag was nearly 2x the cost in servicing alone as my Vantage just because of the 6K instead of 10K intervals...which make a big difference when you both do 20K miles a year each
anyway, servicing, yes, now much cheaper. the Sagaris was done and Silverstone and Pheonix MS most recently, and no more than £400 base price + consumables like pads etc of course
In some respects, other than not being able to buy a new car, TVR actually not being in business any more has done the world of good for owners LOL

Don't just buy on price. You want good quality and convenience. I was told that to be done properly, any service needs the car to be fully cooled down. So even a 6k service is an overnight job.am willing to travel for the right price
Factor in the petrol too; a 400 mile round trip will be 15 - 20 gallons of V Power (or equivalent)so that's nearly £100.
I know that choice of garage/dealer is very personal, but I think that RG give an excellent service. A lot of posters will agree, although some will also disagree! I guess you just take your pick. Oh, RG do have courtesy cars - although not a Tiv!
However, if you don't like RG and are prepared travel, the one time that I used Dulfords I was very impressed.
Try Jason and Straight8six, his qote for my service - full with reshim - was £300 less than RG. He did find a few bits that needed doing and gave me the choice whether to have them done or not. When I was looking for a service the labour rate was a factor as I had assumed there would be some extra bits to do as well and if the service was a special price the extras may not have been.
He is a nice guy, willing to explain everything, has courtesy cars and his knowledge of the cars and engines gave me alot of confidence.

I used to use Silverstone Performance but have now shifted to Str8Six. Not that Silverstone were bad, they were very good in fact, but I felt the level of service at Str8Six was above & beyond (& covered much more). That, plus Jason's friendly & informative nature made me feel much more confident about them & my car.
Price was only a minor factor as I don't mind paying for quality but even so Str8Six came out cheaper than many others - £330 + VAT for a 6,000 mile service which included tracking & alignment - You can't argue with that!

He certainly is thorough - but in a good way. I didn't want to spend the extra money on all the bits but having done so the car is now perfect.
I got quite attached to the Perodua over the couple of weeks, it got almost the same attention from other drivers as the T350 but I guess not for the same reason! If I had to have it any longer I would have fitted a radio though.

My tamora went last week , again fisrt service with me , very impressed . I spoke to a few places and was impressed with Str8six , but power is 2hrs closser so went with them . Gassing Station | Tamora, T350 & Sagaris | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
