I've been trying to get a reasonably priced helmet to fit my pea sized head (omps have come up too big, arai too small) and tried to get one from GPR. They called back to say the one I ordered was out of stock for good.

He said he had a Simpson Valor helmet with SA2005 rating in small for sale. Retail is £550 but they had it up for £350 plus vat in the sale.

As I didn't want to spend a fortune they offered it to me for £200 inclusive which is a bargain.

My friend works across the road so collected it for me.

Got it last night, very well made and fit is perfectly, only issue is that the eye port is quite small & the design of the inside means when I breath it steams my glasses up straight away so it needs to go back! ( I did look like a stig wanna be which put me off a bit to!)

On research it was actually a Simpson raider but thats still SA2005 approved.

My question is Should they have a snell sticker or a tag sewn in?

I was under the impression it should but it didn't have either.

Its usually a sticker on the inside of the helmet. On my Impact Racing helmet (Bill Simpsons other company) its just behind the edge of some of the padding which you have to lift slightly to see. Hope that helps.

Glasses steaming up can be a problem in any helmet IMHO. You can get products to treat your glasses, I have found the product you can get from diving shops to stop diving masks steaming up especially effective.

regarding glasses steaming up I dont think you will find any helmet that will stop it from happening because it is designed differently. If you are in a closed cockpit car you can happily remove the visor and completely remove the problem, but if you are in an open topped car it is up to you to find a balance by opening the visor a fraction to get enough airflow.

I've not had the problem with my glasses steaming up before.
It was happening even with the visor up.

My Stilo GT-4 is SNELL 2005, and it took me a while to find the sticker as well. Again, it was on the inside, and you had to lift up the padding to see it.

Same for my Arai, inside under the padding.
