Cleaning Engine Bay

I'd like to get the engine bay cleaned up as it doesn't seem to have had much attention for a while - can anyone help with some guidance on best Method? Product? Do's/Don'ts etc....

Paraffin is better than specialist products for oily surfaces, and cheap

...and a toothbrush with some metal polish works wonders on the difficult to reach shiny bits.

Incidentally, and apologies if a quick look at the bonnet hinges would answer this, but how easy is it to take off the bonnet to get right in there? And when you put it back on does it have to be re-aligned?

taking the bonnet off is an easy job. There are 4 6mm Allen key bolts. I always remove the bonnet when I do a service on my t350 as it saves my back! It is a two man job and make sure you protect the paint by using rags anywhere the paint may rub. Especially on top of the oil tank. Also as your cleaning the engine you might want to remove the pressed steel skid tray under the engine. It's held in place by about 10 13mm bolts. It always seems to collect oil and dirt. This will tidy the engine bay up nicely
