Is your Cerb off the road?
Discussion
How many of us have Cerbs that are currently off the road? Mine's been off the road for exactly a year now due to auxiliary shaft failure. It'll be back on the road by the end of summer hopefully. I'm certainly missing driving it- seeing other TVRs being driven about in this gorgeous weather doesn't help things either
I dragged the AJP out of the garage today to give it a bit of a clean before I take it to have it's auxiliary shaft replaced and the pumps overhauled...
AJP...Mmmmmm...

Yep, off the road. got it back on last saturday, not starting on the sunday, back on yesterday and it died at lunchtime today. Oh how i laughed. Think the battery is toast.
And it's now back on the road. Turned over a treat this time. Weird.

I'll see your Jan 09, and raise you, Nov 07
Currently at the garage getting a service, MOT and geo setup. Airboxes being resprayed elsewhere, whirlwind & chip fitted and waiting for last LEDs to arrive from states.
Its been over 18 months, and I've forgotten what its like to drive my Cerb

A newly painted garage awaiting its arrival...

Ok, I join in. My Cerb is of the road since december 2008. I brought it to TVR Belgium where they took the AJP out. From there it was transported to Dave Wallis to get the LS engine transplant.
All winter months, so didn't really matter. But now the wether is getting better. The last things are being done right now, so she wil be back on her feet soon.

Yup mine currently is. Two track days ate the front pads last week. Still new ones tomorrow should see it back again this week
Pads, pah. One track day (1500miles) and mines lunched again.
Though this time it's being done right. Dropped in and had a look at the head work, night and day as opposed to the piss poor quality from before. Also backed up by a three year warranty, never got that before.

I'm not sure of the exact figures, but way too high to be safe or reliable.
Forgot the bottom end balanced, valves cut.
Also they wont be using 6mm bolts and a ton of mastic in place of 8mm bolts, the correct head gaskets so as the pistons don't smash into them, no threaded bolts and they wont be cracking my inlet manifold and just fitting it anyway, the dip stick will read the correct level and won't have a massive blob of weld on it where the engine was dropped damaging it, oh the heads will be skimmed flat so as the compression doesn't change on each pot. They'll even do the front pulley bolt up so it doesn't fall out whilst I drive the car.
In short my engine was hugely bodged up on many previous occasions.
TVR's get a bad rep for unreliability, unfairly so I feel, when all my failures have been down to rubbish repairs.
Did I mention they will guarantee there work and take full responsibillity for there repairs, unlike the other garages who have had thousands from me.
